Calling all homeschool families! Elementary sessions require a parent or guardian to attend with their child. Feeling hungry? So is the wildlife! Get to know the producers, consumers, and decomposers that make up our food chains in Illinois.

What critters are active in the winter? Discover Missouri’s wintering wildlife at Critters in the Winter with the St. Charles County Park Rangers at Broemmelsiek Park. Kids will make a snack to hang on a tree for our critter friends and take a short trek through the woods. Dress for the weather! This free program is for children ages 12 and under. Pre-registration is required.

Crawl into the world of lizards! We will explore tails, scales and more as we learn about this unique group of reptiles. Then, we will visit the Herpetarium to check out some of the lizards at the Zoo.

Tiny Trekkers is a weekly drop off program for ages 3 – 5. Preschoolers will explore our nearly 500 acres of preserve through hands-on experiences out in nature. This program takes place every Tuesday from 9 – 11:30 am, September through May. Tiny Trekkers is a great complement to part time preschool programs, as preparation for entering preschool or kindergarten, or even as an addition to a PreK/K homeschool program. Children must be able to use the restrooms independently. Limited spots are available.

Children love becoming little explorers as they learn and play in the park! Bring your adventurous tots out this spring for a short hike, story time and activities. Each month, Park Rangers teach children about new topics such as birds, mammals, reptiles, insects and more! Cost is $5 for each monthly program. Children should dress for the weather and must be accompanied by an adult during the entire program. Space is limited; pre-registration is required.
