Students learn to speak up about community issues they care about and develop their voice as they create individual and collaborative spoken word poetry. They engage across arts disciplines using imagery, music, and movement as they devise their work. Spoken word is an innately powerful mode of creative writing that encourages students to express their ideas, experiences, and opinions. Writers create a variety spoken word and perform them in a poetry slam for family and friends on the final day of camp.
